DocStation has partnered with the West Virginia Drug Intervention Institute to support the Nalox(ONE) Program, a statewide initiative launching in April 2022. The program aims to educate and assess patients prescribed opioid medications across more than six at-risk West Virginia counties.
The initiative targets over 10,000 patients through approximately 20 pharmacies, including locations from Fruth Pharmacy, PursueCareRX, and the Community Pharmacy Enhanced Services Network of West Virginia. DocStation will serve as the primary tracking and reporting platform.
The program addresses documented increases in overdose-related deaths in West Virginia. Co-prescribing naloxone with opioids, combined with patient education and safe disposal practices, has proven effective in reducing both fatal and non-fatal overdoses.
"We are honored to contribute to this important public health initiative," said Samm Anderegg, PharmD and founder/CEO of DocStation, emphasizing pharmacists' vital role in patient education and care.
The Nalox(ONE) Program receives State Opioid Response funding through the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources, with matching funds from the West Virginia Drug Intervention Institute.
