John makes sense. Always. His powerful grasp on logic not only makes him a self-proclaimed math nerd, but also someone who can make all sorts of decisions rationally — using frameworks to guide him so that he’s not misled by a bit of outlier data. You may assume that someone as firmly planted in reasoning as John would seem somewhat cold or distant. But nope. He’s as warm and charming as he is logical. And we see that sort of balance in all aspects of his life. His life is one big balanced equation.

So let’s get to know John— DocStation’s Director of Finance, why don’t we!

He edited business plans at age 11. An eleven year old editing business plans either sounds very impressive or very sad. Talking with John, though, you quickly realize it’s impressive. He grew up in a family of entrepreneurs where business talk was the norm.

“We didn’t have a traditional Thanksgiving. When the family all got together, that was basically just a large business meeting.”

Growing up in that sort of environment sparked an immediate interest in business. Observing everyone gathered and enthusiastically coming up with strategies, he wanted to be a part of that energy. Hence the 11 year old happily editing business plans for his grandfather.

**DocStation ticked all of his boxes. **Not surprisingly, John uses a specific framework when deciding if a project is the correct opportunity for him. He asks himself, “Do you like what you’re doing? Do you like who you’re doing it with? And do you feel you are providing value?”

DocStation offered the chance to do important work and immediately provide value with his skillset. What really sold him, though? He says it was the team he would get to work with. (blush).

He balances all of those hours sitting and staring at excel sheets with Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. One day, John took a jiu-jitsu class and immediately realized, “Oh wow! This is what I’ve been missing!” The exercise offers him mental and physical stability, and it’s also just a lot of fun. He admits that he may or may not talk about it a lot. Like… all the time.

He’ll melt your heart with his response to “Who would you switch lives with for a day?” (This is the part we said his wife will love.) When given the opportunity to switch lives with anyone living or dead, real or fictional, John chose his wife.

“Sure, it would be cool to be Elon Musk for a day or whatever, but here is the woman I’ll spend the rest of my life with. It would be amazing to live one day as her and get that perspective so I can understand her and be a better partner.”

Well, we will leave you on that incredibly thoughtful quote from our incredibly wonderful coworker. We have more incredible coworkers for you to get to know here on The Pharmacy Standard!
